Historically Comtrols
have been a weak link in SeayCo systems. They are a commercial quality
piece of hardware that often struggles in an industrial environment.
SeayCo has found that Comtrol support for their product has been poor
and they have made it clear that the major market they are targeting has
different requirements from SeayCo’s and our customer base.
SeayCo originally selected Comtrols to
allow our systems to take advantage of Ethernet communications using
serial devices. At the time these systems went in, Comtrols were the
best solution available on the market. Since that time, better
technology has become available and SeayCo has made the switch to this
new hardware, Lantronix UDS1100.
The support calls generated by issues
with Comtrols represent a significant portion of all our support calls
and it is in the interest of customers and SeayCo alike to minimize
these. We will continue support for Comtrols through the end of the year.
Beginning April 2007, we will apply our normal support rates to Comtrol
related support calls. We
encourage all of our customers to upgrade to the new technology,
